Default What treatment's are available?? What is the next step??

Im a healthy 20 year old woman, and me and my husband have been trying for kids for 2 years. During this time we have had 3 miscarriages, all at 2 months. We have paid a LOT of money for tests such as chromosomes (for both of us), blood clotting disorders, hormonal and thyroid problems, uterine abnormalities, and all tests have come back normal. My gyno wants me to go under the knife next month so she can have a better look inside and see if there is anything that the HSG missed, but I don't like the idea of surgery and it is going to cost well into the hundreds, if not thousands, which is money we don't have....

Has anyone been in the same situation and gone on to have a healthy child? With or without medical assistance (such as IVF)?? I feel so hopeless, I'm only 20, but feel like I haven't been given the chance to do what I'm supposed to do as a human!

    Thanks in advance

    Hi!

I'm going to say thiat I think you sould get another opinion, probably from an RE instead of just following what your gyno says. He/She is not a fertility specialist and might not have a complete understanding of what he is seeing anyway.

Surgery creates scar tissue, and that can make it even more difficult to get pregnant. Believe me. I know. I did what my gyno said to do for two years and never got pregnant. After that I went to an RE who told me to have this surgery. I did...and still didn't get pregnant. I ended up switching to a different RE and he told me that I probably never should have had surgery in the first place and that it had damaged my ovaries and created scar tissue that was blocking my eggs from getting where they needed to go. That's why I wasn't getting pregnant.

Anyway, after 3 unnecessary surgeries and two IVF cycles with an RE that didn't know what he was doing, we finally switched doctors.....and now we have a beautiful, healthy 4 month old.

20 is young. Find a good doctor that knows what he's talking about and get yourself a baby!!

I agree with Carrie - find a RE (Reproductive endocrinologist) in your area and get a consult before doing any sort of surgery. Most metropolitan areas have specialists. I'm assuming that if you have undergone all this testing that your husband has had extensive testing done as well, most importantly a sperm analysis.

Although it was expensive, having all that testing done is a good thing. I agree with the other ladies, an RE is the way to go!!
